4th Annual Thunder Rally
The Route 16 Thunder Rally returns this year on August 11th to 13th. The move from September to August makes camping way more fun and we follow shortly after Stanfest making site logistics just a little easier.
As before, Canso welcomes riders to come share some good weather, good riding, good friends, good food and good music.
The $99 weekend pass covers 2 nights camping, bonfires, live music and breakfast plus all the Saturday festivities. The $75 Saturday pass covers the poker run, field games, supper, bonfires and live music from Working Class Band (returning) and Lowboy, a new biker oriented group. The name change from Lost Shores to Route 16 allowed us to eliminate the $15 HST. You probably haven’t heard of many other prices going down lately.
Starting this year, those beautiful event T-shirts now become the early bird incentive. Register before July 15th and your t-shirt is included free. If your registration doesn’t make the early bird deadline, we’ll have t-shirts available to purchase at the gate.
To add to the fun, the poker run returns to Larrys River made possible by some recent road repairs on Hwy 316 around Charlos Cove. Ironically, this coincides with the annual Acadian Savalette Festival and their Tintemarre (noisy) Parade held the same morning. Yes, we’ll be the noisy neighbors bringing a second noisy parade on the same day. How cool it that?
As before, all proceeds from this event help support ice time for our youth figure skating and hockey programs at the adjacent Canso Arena. As the event has slowly grown, so has the financial support for the youth. We deeply appreciate the contributions from participants, advertisers and volunteers who play vital roles in making this possible.
Here’s a 15 minute video by PEI’s own Angie Morrison from 2022 that shows what to expect. Thank you Angie!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhcBLgd92_s
We’re not fancy but somehow ‘3 guys and a 6 pack’ keeps getting it done. We are truly blessed to have such a great team of volunteers working behind the scenes. See you in August! Harold, Bill and Rob.
